Cosmetic surgery abroad is generally much cheaper than in the US. Asian countries’ campaign for tourism ultimately led to the propagation of medical tourism. This means that they offer affordable cosmetic surgery packages that are sure to attract foreigners. Countries such as Tunisia, India, Thailand and Korea top a typical patient’s list of destinations.
Risks involved
Procedures done abroad can be disadvantageous to those who are not careful enough. Common drawbacks include:
- Infections and/or hematoma brought about by the use of non-sterile equipment
- You won’t be able to verify the doctor’s credentials. The wrong doctor’s handicraft may result in irregularities like dimples and divots. We’ve all heard horror stories of botched operations in cheap foreign countries.
